• Stimulates Circulation – providing body’s cells with vital nutrients and removing waste material
  • Stimulates Micro-Circulation – massage pumps blood faster through the vessels (capillaries, arterioles) improving their function (bigger, more pliable).
  • Stimulates Lymphatic Flow – lymph (waste products from energy production and tissue damage) moves when muscles contract (shorten). Massage stimulates flow, especially when there has been an injury.
  • Relaxes and De-stresses the mind

In addition, SPORTS THERAPY MASSAGE:

  • Improves Muscle Strength & Flexibility Massage breaks down scar tissue, adhesions and fibrous tissue which feel like hard lumps or knots. This improves joint function and range of movement (shoulder, neck, elbow, wrist, hip, knee, and ankle joints).
  • Helps Prevent Injury by identifying and dealing with areas of tension before they become a “pain”.
  • Identifies, Assesses and Treats Minor Soft Tissue Injuries
  • Speeds up Injury Recovery by breaking down scar tissue and stimulating blood flow to the injury site.
  • Assists in Rehabilitation before and after an operation for a more serious injury by preparing the body, speeding up recovery and preventing muscle atrophy.
  • Enhances Sports Performance by speeding up recovery time and the removal of muscle waste after hard training sessions - improving the quantity and quality of training.
  • Corrects Poor Posture

TREATMENT

Every treatment is unique and will reflect the client’s body shape, pain threshold, recovery rate and need. A typical first session will involve a consultation (client history taking) and an hour of treatment to identify the problem muscles and develop a specific stretch program. The goal is to get to the root cause of the problem, and fix it.
